BORYSPIL DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE
Branding, Graphic Design, Motion Graphic
Brand Assets
The logo unites three key elements of the department's identity. It is a mark that stands as a balance between present, past and future. Tradition and innovation.
An airplane shape anchors it to the city's aerospace legacy. A stylised flower, inspired by traditional Ukrainian embroidery, symbolises growth and cultural heritage. The gridded form nods to QR codes — reflecting the department's contemporary, digital-forward approach.
The visual system is bright, modular, and expressive. The colour palette is deliberately saturated — evoking creative energy and allowing for initiative-specific differentiation:
- Red for museums and historic preservation
- Blue for arts and theatre
- Green for natural heritage and public parks
- Yellow for festivals and entertainment
Motion design plays a key role in the brand's public expression, bringing vibrancy to digital applications and reinforcing the department's active, forward-facing posture.
Merchandise
The modular nature of the logo makes it ideal for embroidery, allowing it to be seamlessly adapted across textile-based merchandise. Its simplicity translates well into cross-stitch and fabric applications, supporting tactile, culturally rooted expression.
Another approach highlights the logo's airplane component as a dynamic visual motif. Enlarged and repeated across formats, it creates a sense of movement and boundary-pushing — reinforcing the department's forward-looking, experimental spirit.
Administrative Collateral
As a government entity, UKBMR requires a systematised suite of branded administrative materials — from membership cards to certificates and everyday office stationery. These pieces adopt a clean, professional aesthetic while subtly echoing the logo's visual language through modular "frames." The red-only palette ensures clarity and consistency. Slight graphic deviations, such as text escaping frame lines, reinforce the core brand theme: moving beyond the expected.
Given the logo's square composition, it is primarily placed within square carriers for optimal legibility and harmony. A monochromatic vector version is also available for low-ink or production-specific applications — such as embossing, engraving, laser-cutting, or foil stamping — where printed detail is not feasible or desired. Additionally, the logo's integrated QR code capability allows it to replace standard barcodes on materials like membership cards or event tickets, reinforcing brand coherence across all formats.
